I gotta say– From practice and drawing in general just about sums that up. ~_~ 

But if you’re talking about the process– start to finish– the method I use from time to time is pretty..minimalist and basic. (imo)

Sketch -> Flats -> Multiply -> Erase Bits of the Sketch -> Lighting  -> Polish

Funny enough, I’m getting around to doing a few time-lapse videos and putting them up for others to see.  

Hopefully these (once uploaded) will give those curious enough a better understanding than through my word filled explanations.
